PARSIPPANY, N.J. (December 19, 2012)– Paul Miller Racing’s efforts to battle for the 2013 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón have been further strengthened with today’s announcement that Porsche works driver Marco Holzer will share the MICHELIN®-shod No. 48 Chopard/TOTAL Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with Bryce Miller for the full season.
“I’ve been watching Marco since he and Bryce drove together in the 2009 season, once at Daytona and once at the Spa 24 hours, where they finished second,” said team owner Paul Miller. “He’s progressed nicely through the years and did a great job in the No. 44 Flying Lizard Porsche last year in the ALMS. It will be valuable to have his track knowledge along with Bryce’s. I expect he and Bryce will be a strong team, fast and reliable.”
Holzer, 24, joins Paul Miller Racing after a 2012 season in which he finished second in the International GT Open championship with five victories and four additional podium results, and also earned a pole position in ALMS competition.
The native of Bobingen, Germany has been a Porsche works driver since 2010, earning a class victory in the 2011 24 hours of Nurburgring, an overall victory in the 24 Hours of Dubai and second place in the 2010 GT3 European Championship with two victories. Prior to becoming a works driver, Holzer was a Porsche junior driver.
“I am excited to join Paul Miller Racing for the 2013 American Le Mans Series GT championship,” Holzer said. “Their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR was improving through the season last year, and the addition of MICHELIN tires should help us be even more competitive. Bryce is really familiar with most of the circuits, and I have a lot of experience setting up the RSR with MICHELIN tires, so we should make a good team.”
Bryce Miller embarks on his third consecutive season of ALMS GT competition in 2013. The 30-year-old from Summit, N.J. earned three top-five results in 2012 (Sebring, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Road America) and owns one career ALMS GT victory (Road America, 2008).
“I am very excited to have Marco join our program,” said Bryce. “He has risen to the top quickly and his maturity as a driver has shown every bit as good as his speed. I’m really looking forward to working with him again.”
The first official 2013 ALMS activities will take place with the annual Winter Test at Sebring International Raceway in early February. The ALMS season gets under way with the 61st Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 16.
