BRASELTON, GA (Saturday, October 14, 2023) — The fairytale IMSA season for Paul Miller Racing and drivers Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers came to an unfortunate early end in the season-closing Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
The No. 1 Quartz Engine Oil-backed BMW M4 GT3 was forced to retire with under 4 hours remaining in the 10-hour enduro following damage from contact suffered earlier in the event.
In his second stint, endurance driver Corey Lewis got caught up in an incident when the No. 20 LMP2 car crossed in front of the No. 60 GTP machine, forcing the faster GTP car to check up and left Lewis with nowhere to go but to make contact with the No. 60.
While the team worked hard to get Lewis, Snow and Sellers back on track, ultimately concerns over a potential steering rack failure and concerns for the safety of our drivers and competitors necessitated the retirement.
“We never want to retire a race car, that’s always the worst feeling,” Paul Miller Racing team manager, Mitchell Simmons, said.
“But, ultimately the damage from the contact early in the race left us with no other option.
“Despite the disappointing result today, I’m so proud of this team and how hard they’ve worked everything we’ve accomplished. We made history this year and nobody can take that away from this team.”
The Paul Miller Racing crew already locked up the season-long IMSA WeatherTech GTD championship title prior to this weekend’s event, thanks to a record-breaking five wins on the year—Sebring, Long Beach, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Road America and VIR.
