DETROIT, MI (Tuesday, May 28, 2024) — The Paul Miller Racing team is ready for a new challenge this weekend, a 100-minute street fight on the downtown Detroit street circuit.
Debuting last year with the Michelin Pilot Challenge Series, 2024 will mark the first appearance of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series at the new downtown circuit. Both the GTP and GTD Pro classes will be partaking, with the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 squad looking for their first GTD Pro win since moving to the class for the 2024 season.
Co-drivers Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow previously raced together on the Detroit Belle Isle circuit, notching a best finish of third three times in 2017, 2018 and the last time the series raced in Detroit in 2022.
In addition to the three podium results at Detroit, the team has a strong record in the other 100-minute street race IMSA competes in, winning three consecutive Long Beach Grand Prix events in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Unfortunately, the iHeartRadio-sponsored duo could not compete for a fourth-in-a-row as the GTD Pro class does not race at Long Beach.
Sellers and Snow currently sit third in the GTD Pro points standings, bolstered by a podium finish in the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona and backing that up with a fourth place result at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
“These 100-minute races are sometimes the hardest events we go to because there’s absolutely zero margin of error,” Paul Miller Racing team owner, Paul Miller said.
“You have to nail your qualifying, nail—what is usually—your only pit stop, and make sure you don’t pick up any penalties or issues on-track because unlike an endurance race, there’s really no time to make up for it.
“Our team has done really well both at the old Detroit circuit, and of course at Long Beach, and hopefully, that translates to the challenge of this new track.”
You can watch all the action from Saturday’s Detroit Sports Car Classic on USA Network on June 1st at 3 PM ET. Live flag-to-flag coverage will also be available to stream on NBC Peacock.
Bryan Sellers
“It will be great to get back to a street course. Detroit has always been one of my favorite cities to race in. I’m looking forward to the challenge of a new track and seeing how we stack up against the others. We have historically had good cars and good finishes on these types of circuits, so hopefully that continues!”
Madison Snow
“Street courses are the most challenging races we compete in all year. They are a lot of fun but require a much higher level of performance all weekend. This is a new track for all of us, so that also adds an additional challenge, but at least everyone is on an even playing field. I’m looking forward to seeing how well we can do here.”
