After a rainy day at VIRginia International Raceway for final practice and qualifying, Paul Miller Racing duo Corey Lewis and Bryan Sellers are expecting clear skies for tomorrow’s latest round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Strong rain and wet conditions hindered all team’s preparations throughout the morning and the VIR track was still wet for the start of qualifying at 12:20 pm. With the rain easing, the team was faced with the choice of gambling on wet or dry tires to set their grid position in the 1st Phorm / Total Lubricants-sponsored Lamborghini.

Lewis hit the track on wet tires and was posted fast times early in the session. However, with the track beginning to dry as the session continued, teams that gambled on dry tires were able to take advantage.

The team’s Lamborghini Hurácan GT3 EVO proved to be the fastest of those team which selected wet tires. Ultimately, the #48 Lamborghini will start tomorrow’s Michelin GT Challenge in ninth position on the grid at Virginia International Raceway.

Both Sellers and Lewis are former race winners at the picturesque VIR – Sellers taking the win with Paul Miller Racing in 2016.

Sunday’s race will be broadcast live on NBCSN beginning at 1:30 pm Eastern.

DRIVER QUOTES

Corey Lewis
“The car was good for the wet conditions, we took a gamble and stayed on rain tires when the track was drying just too quick, while half the field was on slicks.
“So we took a gamble but unfortunately Mother Nature didn’t pan out for us but we will start P9 for tomorrow’s race.
“I know it will probably be most likely dry so we’re working on the dry set up. We’re fast regardless of what the track conditions have been, so I know we will have a fast race car tomorrow and Bryan and I are going to work our best to get to the front.”
