PARSIPPANY, N.J., (August 1, 2018) – Following a dominating win two weeks ago at Lime Rock Park, Paul Miller Racing will enter this weekend’s Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America with a ten point lead. The No. 48 TOTAL Lubricants/UIS Lamborghini Huracán GT3 has yet to finish outside the top four in seven races, making Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow the duo to watch in round eight of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
“We have been executing at this level for a few years,” said Team Manager Mitchell Simmons. “It is only now with the absence of yellows that we can be competitive enough for the top step, and with a fair refueling BoP (Balance of Performance), we can let Bryan and Madison do their jobs, which they are doing perfectly.”
With four races remaining in the championship, the pressure grows to preserve the points lead for the final leg of the season. Round seven’s win gave the team a seven point boost in the standings, allowing them to pull away from the competition and create a more comfortable gap into the next event.
The transition from Lime Rock Park to Road America, the shortest track on the IMSA calendar to Road America, the largest, will be an important adjustment in the strategy for the weekend’s event. The length of the track will make tire management and pit stop strategy crucial for the two hour and forty minute race.
“If the car isn’t prepared perfectly or if the crew make mistakes on pit lane it would be all for nothing,” concluded Simmons. “So we really work together as a team to continue with the high quality output we’ve been producing. Since we don’t have the outright pace of the other cars, Lars Giersing will set the car up to be good over the full stint. Our hope is that the other competitors wear their tires out and come back to us, as they have in past races.”
The Continental Tire Road Race Showcase will begin Sunday, August 5 at 1:35PM Central, airing live on FS1. IMSA Radio will also offer live audio coverage of all sessions, starting with Practice One on Friday Morning. On Saturday, August 4th, all fans are invited to attend a showing of the Dinner with Racers podcast, where driver Bryan Sellers will appear as a guest. The event will begin at 6:30PM at the Road America Center. Fans will also have an opportunity to meet both drivers at the autograph session outside the garage on Sunday, at 10:45AM. Road America is a great race track with a huge fan base. Anytime you think of road racing in North America, Road America comes to mind. It’s one of my favorite events, and I am really looking forward to getting there. We’re feeling positive after our win at Lime Rock, and look forward to bringing that momentum to this weekend. The guys have been doing an incredible job all season long. Our strengths this year have really been in our consistency as a team, from the car set-up, to the pit stops, to the lap times. Everyone is contributing to the effort, and it’s really showing in the results.

Road America couldn’t be any different of a track that Lime Rock which was our last race, but that’s why we love competing in IMSA, so that we are able to be challenged by different tracks. Road America is the longest track we race on all year, and also had the longest straights other than Daytona. With our current BOP we are going to lack the most in the easiest section on track and the sections we can’t improve any on, in the straights. Every corner here has lots of curbs to allow running wide, some even four wheels on the curbs, however they can be rough enough to slow you down your power application and cost you time instead of gaining anything by using the extra room tracking out further. I get a lot of satisfaction when I get a good lap together because this track is so long everything has to go perfect, there are also so many possibly ways to make a mistake around it. Road America has so much to offer for everyone that attends, from us drivers on track to the fans that have great viewing opportunities in every corner.
