SEBRING, Fla., (March 14, 2018) – The second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes place this weekend at Sebring International Raceway, and Paul Miller Racing is bringing with them the momentum of a podium finish at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The No. 48 TOTAL/UIS Lamborghini Huracán GT3 currently sits third in the GTD class point standings as the team makes the final preparations for the 66th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts.
“We always look forward to competing at the Twelve Hours of Sebring,” said team owner Paul Miller. “The surface of the track is so unique, and it really puts everyone to the test over the course of the entire twelve hours.”
Comprised of asphalt and concrete from a portion of an active airport runway, the track surface of Sebring International Raceway differs greatly from the smooth, paved surfaces of most modern day road courses. The rough, bumpy surface ads another element for the drivers and teams to consider as they race throughout the day and evening on Saturday.
Full time drivers Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow will share the driving duties with Lamborghini Squadra Corse driver Corey Lewis. The battle for points is not only for the main GTD IMSA championship, but also the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup, a points battle comprised of four endurances races within the full season calendar.
“Sebring is such a great race,” said Sellers. “Of all the events we do, it is absolutely one of my favorites. I feel like we have a very strong combination heading into the year’s event. We have done a lot of work on the car and are very prepared from a mechanical/engineering standpoint. We also have an extremely strong driver line up which is now a necessity to get a result. It’s always a challenging event but we are all very excited to get to work.”
Since the podium finish at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the team has completed additional on track testing at the famed course, preparing as much as possible for the always challenging event.
“The test we had down at Sebring couple weeks ago showed that we had very good pace and reliability in the car,” said Snow. “I believe we will be going into this as best prepared as we can, so I’ll be just up to us lasting for 12 hours and doing what we can to end up on top. We had a great start to Daytona this year, and that makes for a lot more excitement as well as pressure going into this next race. We have a new third driver this race that we have competed against before, so I know how good of a driver he is, and we are very excited to have him on our team with us this year.”
“I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to run under the Paul Miller Racing banner with Bryan and Madison,” said Lewis. “My plan is to help the guys keep and improve their points standing and hope to come home on the top step!”
