SPEEDWAY, IN (Thursday, September 14, 2023) — Paul Miller Racing is back in action this weekend at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the penultimate round of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
In addition to being the penultimate round of the full-season championship, the TireRack.com Battle On The Bricks event also marks the final round of the IMSA Sprint Cup—a championship-within-a-championship for races two hours, 40-minutes or less. Currently, drivers Madison Snow and Bryan Sellers hold a 229-point margin in the Sprint Cup standings in their quest to go back-to-back with Sprint Cup wins after dominating the title chase in 2022.
The duo topped the Sprint Cup standings in 2022 by virtue of a win at the Long Beach Grand Prix and never lost the championship lead over the course of the season.
In addition to closing out the Sprint Cup, the Quartz Engine Oil-backed team has a chance to clinch the overall 2023 IMSA GTD championship this weekend.
An incredible season so far for the No. 1 BMW M4 GT3 squad has seen them win five times—a new GTD record for most wins in a single season. Victories for Snow and Sellers have come at Long Beach, CTMP, Road America, and VIR, additionally, the duo were joined by third driver Corey Lewis for a victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring back in March.
The success has left them sitting first in the points standings, 375 points ahead of their nearest rival. Additionally, their victories this year have bolstered BMW to a 344-point advantage in the Manufacturers’ standings.
“It’s been an amazing year, and no matter what happens in these last two races, I am so proud of what everyone here at Paul Miller Racing has accomplished,” Paul Miller Racing team owner, Paul Miller, said.
“We still have work to do to close out these championships, but even more so, this entire team is a group of racers—we want to win!
“It won’t be easy, Indy will be a challenge for everyone since it hasn’t been on the schedule in many years. But, with a host unknowns for everyone, I know what team I would want behind me to optimize my chance at a good result!”
The TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks will air LIVE on NBC Sunday at 1:00 PM ET. Subscribers can also catch live flag-to-flag coverage on NBC Peacock.
Madison Snow
“Indy is going to be a bit of a challenge for us as well as everyone else. With IMSA not having raced here in so long there will be a lot to learn throughout the weekend. All of us at PMR are certainly up for this challenge and hope to bring home some more hardware!”
Bryan Sellers
“It’s been a long time since IMSA has been back to Indianapolis and I think I can say we are all very excited for the return. It goes without saying that the speedway is a sight to see and absolutely amazing to witness. I’m looking forward to the race and hopeful for a good result.”
