(July 6, 2010) — Orbit will start the American Le Mans Series race at Miller Motorsports Park from the GTC front row. Bryce Miller qualified the No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car second in class with a lap time of one minute 54.953 seconds on the 3.048-mile road course in Tooele, Utah. The qualifying effort was the culmination of a strong performance for the first-year Orbit team this week, as co-drivers Luke Hines (Essex, England) and Miller (Summit, N.J.) led the class through three days of track tests and the first official practice session on Friday.

“I’m really proud of the crew,” Miller said. “They worked really hard on the car all week and we’ve taken advantage of the two test days early in the week. We were able to carry that momentum on through the official test day and now qualifying. They’ve done a very good job with the setup of the car and I’m very proud of everyone. It’s been a lot of hard work lately, so I really hope that we can get a good race result. The team deserves it.”

Hines will drive the first race stint on Sunday, followed by Miller. With track temperatures exceeding 110 degrees, tire endurance will be a key factor in the two-hour 45-minute race.

“The track temperature is causing the heat in the tires to escalate and that’s the problem. So for tomorrow, it will be a question of which cars can maintain a good, steady tire wear and keep the tires underneath them,” Miller noted.
