(June 4, 2010) — Miller Barrett Racing will start the six-hour GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race at Watkins Glen International from seventh on the GT class grid. Bryce Miller of Summit, N.J., qualified the No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in one minute 51.316 seconds on the 3.4-mile road course in Watkins Glen, N.Y.  His average lap speed was 109.957 mph.

Miller will drive the first stint in the six-hour race on Saturday, then alternate with Luke Hines of Essex, England. The pair competed in two previous Rolex Series races this season, the Rolex 24 At Daytona and a series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. They race with the support of Marquis Jet, Grand Prix Racewear, IPC Information Systems and TOTAL Lubricants.

“We’re pretty excited to be back and racing at The Glen. This is one of our home tracks,” Miller said. “It’s good to come here and the Porsche has shown strong here. Considering we’ve been away for a little while, I’m pretty pleased with how the team has been able to close the gap just in the short timeframe that we have. Over the course of this one practice day that we’re allotted, we’ve closed a couple of seconds. So we’re still improving; there’s still more to come.”

Hines is in his first season of racing in North America, so every track presents a new learning curve.

“It’s not easy coming to a track the first time and this year has always been learning the track and jumping into different cars,” he acknowledged. “This is a great track and I’ve really enjoyed my testing time at Watkins Glen. I’m getting quicker every lap – my last stint I was going a half-second quicker, half-second quicker. That was on old tires and we have another couple of practice sessions, so I’ll find the time.”
